"Wonderful people."

6 weeks ago ,I had a fall at home, shattered three ribs ,and punctured my lung .My wife rang 999 and my life then was in the hands of other people .The paramedics who attended were brilliant ,cool calm and efficient, and I was very soon at A and E in RUH Hospital. Things became very hazy for me then ,but I am told that I went to a surgical assessment ward ,and then was sent onto I T U to be monitored for the next four days. I remember very little of this ,except that every time I woke up ,there was always someone instantly there to reassure me and bring pain relief ,food drink, or simply just to be there with me. Nothing was too much trouble. From there I was then transferred to Pulteney Ward ,and how lucky was that for me. The whole staff there ,from cleaning staff and orderlies ,right up to the ward matron are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. For the five days that I was in their care I was treated with kindness ,compassion, and dignity and never made to feel a nuisance ,which ,looking back, I undoubtedly was sometimes. Their quiet dedication ,wry humour, and simple humanity put them at their best when I was at my worst and needed their help. This is a simple "thank you" from me to everyone who helped me through a very bad time. Could you please ensure that all departments who helped in my recovery are made aware of how grateful I am to them.
