"Excellent care: Royal Inf. Edin. Ward 106"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / General Surgery Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Surgical Observation Unit Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I was brought by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary Of Edinburgh,  and quickly diagnosed with a burst appendix with most complications you can read on line on Appendicitis with peritonitis.

Following the open surgery procedure, I was then cared for by the team at ward 106.

This review is for everyone involved in my care: ambulance crew, medical staff involved in the diagnosis, anaesthestists, surgeons, qualified nurses and those on placement, the crew involved in keeping the patients fed, hydrated , the beds changed and the ward clean.

Big thank you for looking after me over the scariest days of my life, and for your contribution to my fast recovery.

I hope you continue to get well soon.

Thank you, it would also make an important difference also, to those involved, if my case was used in the specific context of the individual personal appraisal or performance review, to exemplify how well they are working and caring. Is this something that can be done? ...if not, pls take this as an opportunity to trial this approach and let me know if you would like to speak after my recovery period.

Dear gillesjh73,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read that you had a burst appendix. That must have been terrifying! I hope that you are feeling better and on the road to a full recovery.

I am however really pleased to read that the crew and the staff did such a good job to make such an impression. I would be more than happy to pass on your comments to them and say well done. If you would like for this to happen you can email my team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot and provide the date/time and location that the ambulance attended you. That way we can locate the crew. If you would be so kind to also make reference to your care opinion username so that if another member of the team picks up the email they can easily link it to this story.

Thanks again and take care!

Alan
