"Getting up with a purpose"

About: Change Grow Live / Inspire East Lancashire

(as a service user),

The short version of my journey i want to start by saying I've got up this morning with a purpose. I've got stuff to do today, im active in my recovery and that's a true blessing that i take seriously because over 10 mths ago it wasn't like this. i was in my last and worst relapse i need whoever to believe me and feel what I'm saying - using and knowing there is a solution to me not using is a horrible place to be in my last relapse was a time where self sabotage was at it's most powerful for me. A close friend of mine said to me he was expecting a phone call that I had passed away through my using. In the end I was taking multiple substances and taking risks like the world was about to end, like I said knowing that there is help. People who care for me was saying it's getting too much to watch but would still try and help support me.

By the grace of God i took help from many of my true friends and i ended up on a detox plan in Stockport with a plan to go in another treatment house in Bacup. When I got to Glen valley I'd used that morning and the manager picked up on this and asked me to come back the next day. I was so desperate and with no other choice did this. While there I met the detox nurse Kelly and the love care and support I was given by Kelly, the staff and my peers at Glen valley was absolutely what i needed even though I've used for many years this was my first physical detox. I struggled and on many of occasions my dark thoughts of I can't do this nearly had me out of the door. Kelly i hope you know and feel what you do for people changes lives. I'm sat here today nearly 9mths clean and sober again. I'd like to offer any support i can to any newcomers who need support or someone to listen or talk to. I'm not guna say my detox was easy and i'm not guna say recovery is easy, but what i will say, it's so much better than using. My soul and heart was dying. Today right here right now in this moment I'm alive with a purpose and a smile. I think ya know what life ain't that bad for me that's a true God given miracle and through hard work and love and support from others its available to everyone that needs and wants it. GOD BLESS.

Kelly you're an absolute Angel, seriously from my heart thank you and I'm sure my mum where she is is also thanking you. XX
