"Bad start but got better "

Having had 15 years of poor mental health being fobbed off with ‘depression and anxiety’ as a diagnosis I finally had enough and asked to be formally diagnosed. I met the first man who refused to believe anything I was saying and kept telling me I had low self esteem. He tried to fob me off with a set of disks called ‘psycho cybernetics’ which is a load of quack psychology based on CBT. He left and the second man believed the first one however agreed to undertake the diagnosis for ADHD. I took in my school reports and he spoke to my parents surprise, surprise ya girl has ADHD and this was confirmed by the female psychiatrist at park house. I had to fight for this if people had less education/understanding/ knowledge of mh services than me or were in more of a poor mental health state they wouldn’t have gotten as far. I’m now on medication and it has literally changed my life!
