"Outstanding care from Hairmyres Coronary Care Unit and paramedics"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology University Hospital Hairmyres / Coronary Care Unit

(as the patient),

I am 86 years old and developed chest pains the ambulance arrived within 10 minutes of the 999 call and the two female paramedics were an absolute credit to their profession.  They were so kind, calm and caring and I have no doubt their quick response had a lot to do with my recovery.

I was conveyed to Hairmyres catheter lab for an angiogram then admitted to the coronary care unit.  Everyone was so kind, reassuring, and nothing was any trouble they constantly kept my family updated because of the no visiting rule and went out their way to make sure I had everything I needed and their care was outstanding.

I had previously heard bad reports about Hairmyres Hospital however, the time from the initial 999 call to arriving at Coronary Care was under 2 hours,.

Once again a huge thank you to everyone who helped me on the road to recovery I am truly humbled by all your kindness.

Dear Keep Smiling

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of the Coronary Care Unit at University Hospital Hairmyres.

I am delighted that your care and experience was so positive. The Cardiology team work extremely hard to provide patients with the highest standard of care possible and I will ensure that your comments are passed onto the staff involved in your care.

I'm sure my colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service will also be delighted with the comments you shared around the paramedics who attended to you.

Thank you again for taking the time to post your experience and I hope you are now recovering well.

Kind regards.

Lesley

Dear Keep Smiling,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read that you had reason to use our Service and the services of the wider NHS Scotland. It sounds like a very frightening time and I am jut so pleased that our crew arrived with you swiftly and treated you in such a professional fashion. It is so nice to hear they made such an impression.

If you would like for me to locate the crew and pass on your lovely comments I am more than happy to do so. I would just require the date/time and location that the vehicle attended you and your name. This can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot. If you wouldn't mind, could you make reference to your CareOpinion username in the email? That way if a different member of the team picks it up they can easily link it to this story.

I hope you are feeling much better and thanks again for your time and comments.

Kind Regards

Alan
