"Chronic insomnia"

About: GPs in South Tees

(as the patient),

For many years I've suffered with high levels of anxiety and depression, I've been prescribed so many different antidepressants and I've recently been told I have epilepsy. I've kept a daily diary off how my insomnia effects my daily life. I've asked so many times for sleeping tablets from my GP.

I also know everything there is to know about the do's and don'ts of trying to get to sleep without using zopiclone to no avail, ie not eating close to bed time no stimulants before bed ie tv lights computers no tea no coffee dont cat nap through the day. Nothing works.

I also know that zopiclone can be additive but sometimes I feel for certain people having no sleep for days is really bad for mental and physical health. For me, having no sleep I've noticed I stand I very high risk of having seizures my anxiety and depression becomes unbearable - this also starts to effect every aspect of my life. I start to self isolate, my memory becomes impaired, I lose interest in normal every day things. I lose interest in wanting to eat, then basically all aspects of my normal life become seriously impaired and it drives me insane then once I have a sleep after 4-7 nights without sleep I may have 4 hours sleep then it starts all over.

So my personal opinion is the GP really needs to look at all the dangerous negative effects by not prescribing zopiclone and monitoring the upside of the patients plus side by giving people in my position zopiclone to at least dramatically reducing all the physical and mental torture that comes with not prescribing zopiclone.
