"Labour ward Borders General Hospital"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

In October I was admitted to the labour ward to give birth to our baby boy. Upon admission I was greeted by midwife Rachel and her student, they were absolutely fantastic from the very beginning. They provided my partner and myself with reassurance and understanding of any procedures/tasks that were to be undertook.

I didn’t have the labour I had “planned” by any means but the labour I did end up having was made positive by having Rachel by my side. I had outstanding care from Rachel and the rest of the labour ward/theatre staff.

Rachel made the effort to come and see me on the ward after labour to see how we were.

The ward post labour were amazing and helped me settle our baby boy and provide guidance on feeding and caring for our new born baby.

The care overall was second to none.

Thank you so much BH251020 for such lovely feedback!

It's lovely to hear that Rachel has provided you with reassurace as well as informed care from admission. It's a shame your labour did not go to plan, but the fact Rachel and the rest of the team have provided you with positivity in such uncertain times when you need to go to theatre is fantastic to hear. This can be a very scary time for new parents and it's nice to hear we are providing person centered care that meets the needs of new families in all situations.

I hope you are settling into life as a new family at home!

I will share your feedback with the staff, they will be delighted.

Kind regards

Claire
