I hadn't had a cervical screening for many years due to a fear of getting the procedure done. My first experience of having the procedure done made me feel faint and left me in shock. Unfortunately that one experience had a lasting effect each time my cervical screening was due to the point where I stopped going all together.   Following my Mum developing cancer I knew I had to try and face my fear and get examined.   The team at Lincoln County Hospital were extremely supportive, kind and understanding of how fearful I was and spent the time to talk with me to try and make me feel calmer, and thankfully they have helped me feel confident that I can return again feeling prepared for a different type of experience.
