My mum needed help on Sunday 8th November
We attended A & E we had our temperatures taken, then waited less than five minutes to be triaged. Mum is 97 years old and has memory problems, she was seen by a doctor immediately, had bloods taken, and then two x-rays , the results were almost instant. Mum was treated with total dignity by all the staff members, they were very professional, really lovely. Mum is staying in the AAU assessment ward for a few days , I feel happy that she will receive good care and treatment, it’s a shame we can not visit due to Covid 19. Mum has survived war , living in the east end of London, evacuated, and was a survivor at the Bethnal Green tube disaster 1943, I’m sure she will survive a few days without us.
The only negative comment I have, it is very difficult to speak to anyone on the ward or even reception to receive patient updates. Unfortunately mum does not have a mobile phone, so I feel cut off, but this is not a criticism of staff, it needs to be addressed by management, as I know all the ward staff are very busy and I would rather patients receive care, than nurses answering phones.
A big Thank You to all in these difficult times.
Regards,
Sally Harvey
