I was told by my midwife at a routine doctors appointment in the morning I was in early labour but didn't think anything of it until later on my mum said I needed to go in as my contractions were close together. I was told to go to triage for 6pm when I got there I was bent over in pain in the corridor while a nurse walked back and fore saying to their colleagues why is she here, we have nowhere to put her.
They eventually put me in a room and 5 minutes after this I felt like something was happening so they came back and examined me. To their surprise I was already 10cm and was rushed to the labour ward. This nurse made me feel like I shouldn't have been there, like I wasn't far enough along and I was probably another mother-to-be that was in too early. This was not a good first experience for a first time mum that had no idea of what happens.
