About: University Hospital Wishaw / Stroke Unit (Ward 11)

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to Ward 11, the Stroke Ward over 2 weeks ago. It has been horrendous not being able to see him. I believe it's affecting him and all of us on the outside.   The staff are amazing and I dont know what I would do without their calls and video calls. It's a lifeline to us and I am so grateful they take the time to do this. I heard my dad speak today for the 1st time in a while and it meant everything. I still think one of us should be allowed to visit if we wear the same as the nurses. It would help him and take the load off a very busy ward staff. Thank you so much. ❤

Dear Lesley S

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion, at such a difficult time for your family. I can only imagine how difficult it must be having a loved one in hospital and not being able to physically be with them. Unfortunately due to covid-19 NHS Lanarkshire has had to restrict visiting in order to keep our patients, their family members and our staff safe. However, I am so pleased to read that the staff in Ward 11 have been keeping you updated by phone and even arranged for video calls so you could see and speak to your dad. I am sure this has been a great comfort to both you and your dad. I will ensure that your kind comments are passed to the staff involved. We are so grateful for the fantastic staff we have in NHS Lanarkshire who make sure that their patients wellbeing is of utmost importance.
