"My labour"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Neonatal Unit (Special Care Baby Unit) Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as the patient),

I had a prolonged first stage (3 days) with failure to progress beyond 4cm which eventually resulted in an emergency C section. Myself and my baby then both contracted serious infections and were admitted to hospital for 6 days. I would like to thank the staff at the midwife unit for the unbelievable kindness and care they gave me during my time with them. With my baby in neonatal I had to be wheeled back and forth and needed a lot of help expressing milk to feed him. I could never have done this without them in particular Sarah, a student midwife who was there during labour and supported me the following day. And also Rachel, a support worker in the midwife unit who gave me a level of support I could never have coped without.

Dear Mummy1234,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and congratulations on the birth of your baby.

It sounds like you had quite a challenging time while you were in with us but I am delighted to hear that the care you received was kind and compassionate and met you and your baby's needs.

I will make sure that the staff are aware of your kind feedback, it will certainly give them a much needed boost.

May I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Thanks

Liz
