My mother was admitted to ward 22 via A and E in October this year where she was found to be suffering from sepsis due to an infection caused by a blockage in her bile duct. She was successfully treated for both and happily able to return home just under two weeks later.
The only point the family would like to mention is that it was a little distressing for my 90 year old mother to be sent home after discharge in a hospital nightie, non slip socks, nappy pants and a dressing gown.....this being inspite of the fact that we had taken in clothes, shoes and a jacket the day before and hung them in her cubicle.
It was a wet and chilly day and she arrived home in front of her neighbours looking extremely sorry for herself.
We can not fault the medical care Mum received but please someone find a moment to help patients dress before leaving the hospital.
Many thanks
