"Terrible Hopsital!"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Where do I start with North Manchester... I came to North Manchester as I had heard good reviews in comparison to the Royal Oldham Hospital. What a mistake that was.. Initially all was well, despite long wait hours. I went for my booking scan at 13 weeks and had usual routine bloods etc. I had a higher BMI than the "normal range" so was placed under a consultant imminently. All bloods came back as normal thankfully, but I rcvd a letter few days after my appointment. I was bombarded with prescriptions and appointments with no explanations. It was a Friday evening by the time I had got home from work and rcvd the letter, so could not contact anyone until Monday AM (leaving me in a panic all weekend). I was told that the letters and prescription were just generic and routine for someone with high BMI. I told them they shouldn't send letters like that without an explanation, as I have been in a worry all weekend etc. Strike 2 was at the end of August when the consultant called me 4 hours after my allotted appointment time (and only after I called her to chase up) she called my landline and asked my Mum or my mobile number, despite it being on file! When she finally called me, I couldn't understand a word she was saying and it was literally a rushed 2 minute phone call, not much use at all. She told me a prescription for vitamin D would be sent. Weeks went by and I never rcvd this prescription or an kind of follow up letter. Until October! My husband now opens any mail from the hospital, due to the panic I was left in last time, and sent me a photo of the letter. This consultant had sent me a letter regarding the chat back in August and blatantly lied; she stated we had a lengthy chat about my increase risks and said she had advised me of this that and the other - which is certainly a lie. She also didn't even read my notes properly, as she stated it was my 2nd pregnancy after a miscarriage??? My husband was confused and questioned me about this. It was just appalling. We went to triage twice and waited over 4 hours each time, without food or water. We were constantly being told how busy they were, but when I was in the room waiting, I could hear about 7 of the midwives in the kitchen gossiping over their lunches! Not only that, but we were told 3 different things by 3 different midwies. The final straw was 02/11 when i went for the GTT, which triage had advised me to go to and fast for 12 hours at 26 weeks pregnant. By 9am I was already starving, arrived at North Manchester to be told all GTT were cancelled due to COVID and triage should not have informed me to come. Luckily I had routine bloods done and all came back clear, to save a wasted trip. But how can you have 2 departments working so closely together, not know what is going on?? I have now switched to Oldham Hospital, as I cannot stand one more visit to that dive. I am left angry and frustrated every time I go there, which is not good when you are pregnant!
