"Nightshift noise"

About: Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 2 (Emergency Surgical) Victoria Hospital / General Surgery

(as a service user),

Noise levels need to be looked at as there seems to be a total disregard for patients well being, as sleep is a major part of recovery. There was some individuals in particular who were very very loud, and one I felt dealt with a confused gentleman really badly by shouting which made him even more confused and agitated. I also thought that some of the face masks being worn were not appropriate for the setting. I feel like staff attitude has gone unchecked for so long that they think it’s the norm. I hope this helps for the future patients as the rest of my stay was pleasant.

Dear Sipsaroop

Thankyou for your feedback about your stay in Admissions Unit 2. I am glad that most of your stay was pleasant but I was disappointed to read about your experience during the night. I agree that restful sleep is important for recovery, especially in hospital, and I am sorry that this was not the case for you.

I am concerned about your description of the way a patient was spoken to and that you also found that staff attitude was not acceptable. I would be grateful if you could contact me directly on 01592 643355 ext 20148 to discuss this further and to allow me to look into your experience further.

Thanks again for posting, I hope you are recovering well and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Kind regards

Gill
