I have a long standing mental health condition which led to me being hospitalised. The treatment I received from the team at woodland view was excellent, particularly from the OT there.
Unfortunately, the treatment I’ve received in the community from psychology has been disappointing, constantly made to feel like I was a time Waster and a burden, and ultimately discharged effectively for “not trying hard enough”, despite turning up to appointments and doing homework between sessions. I’m afraid I can’t help it if the treatment isn’t working for me, but I’ve been made to feel like it’s my fault I’m not recovered. I’ve found the nursing and medical staff are great, but psychology seems to be a different story unfortunately.
I’ve heard this sort of thing from other patients too, so I suspect I’m not an isolated case. Seems to be a culture of get people out the door (or don’t let them through until the first place!) if you don’t fit a pretty narrow set of criteria .
"Variable treatment depending on who you meet!"
