My mother (who is 92) was referred to the Falls Clinic as she kept having falls. On the first assessment, a full history was taken and they were able to find out why my mother kept having falls. A report was sent to her GP and her blood pressure medication was changed. She had also been given exercises to do, to improve her balance and mobility.
Karen from the Falls Service then came regularly to visit my mother over the last two months to help her with the exercises, and also gradually to increase the number of exercises, My mother was very reluctant to start with to do the exercises, but over the weeks has gradually started to do them on her own. When I visit several times a week, we also do them together. I believe that one of the reasons that my mother has taken on board the need for her to do the exercises, is because Karen was so caring and had such a positive attitude with my mother and really encouraged her to keep doing the exercises.
Karen came for the last time this Wednesday, and completed another assessment of how my mother is now doing with her mobility and balance. Karen was able to show that my mother had improved in these areas over the last few weeks, which has given my mother a real boost. I want to thank Karen for all her help and support over the last few weeks. My mother and I have been so impressed with the Falls Service. Excellent service.
This story is really to thank Karen from Falls Service at Bromley Healthcare. The referral was made by Cornerways Surgery to this service.
"Thanks for all the help and support"
