"Hygiene Concerns"

About: GPs in Nottingham North and East

(as the patient),

I attended an appointment at my local Health Centre for a blood test in October 2020. The member of staff that called me in didn’t introduce themself, so I don’t know their name.

After I sat down they took a pillow from the FLOOR and placed it on my lap, for my arm to rest on. The pillow wasn’t wiped and there was no paper towel used under my arm. After I had my blood taken the pillow was removed and tossed back on to the floor.

I’m shocked by the disregard of potential cross-infection between patients and would hope that this isn’t standard practice. Maybe GPs need an infection control update, especially during a pandemic!
