"Smoking Cessation"

About: Udston Hospital

(as a relative),

My mum is 89 years old, fit as a fiddle but she has Alzheimer's Dementia and smoked around 10 cigarettes a day.  With her condition, smoking was becoming a real risk not only in terms of fire safety but also her cognitive functions and her general health.  She was referred to Kate, the Stop Smoking Specialist Nurse at Udston Hospital.  The service has been amazing, Kate has been attentive, checking on progress etc.  So far the treatment has been a success with minimum fuss.  Now my mum seems a lot brighter, she has a better appetite, she has put on some much needed weight, her complexion is better and she seems to have more energy.  I am most grateful for all the help and

I wish for my mum's sake that we had used this service years ago.
