"Fracture follow up"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Mother suffered a broken ankle 4 weeks ago. No follow up hospital appointment as detailed on discharge letter (2 -3 weeks) and advised by doctor before discharge, who stated a repeat X-ray would be done. Telephone follow up arranged after 4 weeks however no phone call! When calling hospital 1.5 hours after appointment time, they commented that many others had already called and they did not know what was going on as they could not get hold of the relevant department. Not quite sure how the healing of a broken bone can be assessed over the phone any way - Covid-19 is being used as an excuse in far too many situations. This is in complete contrast to the treatment my mother received when she was admitted into hospital at the time of the break.

I'm sorry to read that your mothers experience has been poor. We would like the opportunity to look into this further for you.

To do this we need patient details and their consent. IF you would like us to investigate what happened on this occasion, please contact the PALS team on 01536 493305.
