I’ve recently moved to Manchester & had a miscarriage at which point I was taken from an Ambulance to the hospital over low blood pressure at home. When I reached A&E, I was mistreated by the nurse to the extent she could not help me to go to the bathroom when I told her I was miscarrying & leaking blood. Instead she told me to walk by myself at which point I collapsed on my way to the bathroom at A&E and nurses saw me lying on the floor and began putting ECG monitors on me.
Not only was this my first miscarriage, I’m 24hrs old at a new hospital in a total new city & being mistreated this way.
I was kept in hospital till about 7am in the morning. At 4am the other wards had their lights shut but the ward I was in still had the light on. I asked the nurse if she could switch it off as I’ve got Morphine in through my blood for the pain, but she told me no. And so I was left struggling to sleep as she’d kept the lights on.
I’m so so traumatised with this hospital that I’m left scarred from going back again. Hopefully when God blesses me with another child, I will not be coming here in emergency nor even a delivery.
I would’ve recovered smoothly with my miscarriage had I at least got support from doctors during my time with them when I was miscarrying during this Pandemic where my own family couldn’t be there. But now I’m mentally scarred to the extent that I do not want a child any time soon because I’m afraid of the ill-treatment I’ll receive again.
What makes my situation most painful is that upon me being discharged, I didn’t get an apology and nor did I get a discharge summary/report. Instead I got told to “pack your bags now dear.”
I’m really sad to be living next to North General at around 6mins drive, but now having to consider a hospital further away just because of people’s character!
