"Great system questionable practice"

About: Aspen Medical Practice

I have just attended the aspen surgery to receive my flu jab in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. There was a very well thought out almost military operation to ensure patients maintain social distance and move through a one way system. I felt this was well executed and thought out. Unfortunately due to the rapid execution and reduced contact utilised the sleeve of my T shirt was not lifted and the vaccination was very quickly administered. Having been quickly escorted out of the building and reviewed the site of administration which was about 4-5 inches from my shoulder tip, appearing below my deltoid rather then central to the muscle. I am not experiencing any pain but am questioning the efficacy of the technique used and vaccination. I felt in the effort to reduce the risks associated with covid-19 that the efficacy of actual intervention was compromised by rushing patients through and using a poor technique.

Thank you for your feedback, we apologise for the concerns you have raised.

The nursing team always do their flu update annually and have been trained to administer in correct site.

We will feed this back to the team, however if you are able to feedback your details via our website, we can then see who administered the individual immunisation and review with them.

Our aim is always to deliver high quality care to our patients.

Kind regards

Aspen Medical Practice
