"Child nasal spray clinic "

About: Warden Lodge Medical Practice

Honestly is this the best you can do offer a child a nasal spray clinic in your disabled parking bay under a tent?

You are wanting 2 - 3 year olds to line up along a busy road and wait patiently for their nasal spray?

Then to be told by another mother the nurse wasn’t changing gloves or sanitising hands between children?

Surely our children deserve an organised appointment in a sterile environment??

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic Warden Lodge like all GP surgeries this year have had to assess and change certain aspects of the way they work.

We were issued guidance on the planning and risks that were required to take into account when planning our flu vaccination clinics.

Research has shown that when nasal flu is administered microscopic residual of fine particles comes back out of the nostril and can be suspended in the atmosphere at the time of administration.

Therefore an outdoor clinic would reduce the risk of contamination, we also only invited minimal patients to this clinic to allow for social distancing and avoid the necessity of long queues.

As we are now moving in the colder weather we will be holding children nasal vaccination clinics indoors, however to do this we will have to take extra precautions.

PPE requirements for administering flu vaccines are a mask and hand gel.
