"Outstanding care and expertise"

From a swift diagnosis of invasive bladder cancer in January through TURBT endoscopy , scans, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and final CLEAR biopsy in October I have received the best possible outcome with the most courteous and considerate care and expertise from all members of the Urology and cancer departments .This includes the consultants ,specialist nurses ,radiographers ,receptionists and those telephoning to book the many appointments.

Covid intervened to stop my chemo after one go ,but was quickly followed by the course of radical radiotherapy delivered in such a precise and positive way by the staff. We are extremely grateful to the consultant clinical urologist for all her expertise and care in the process and in particular to allow the then unusual step of allowing the Chemo to restart after Radiotherapy when the immediate Covid impact had abated. This gave us the peace of mind to know that absolutely everything was being done so that whatever the outcome of the biopsy we would have no regrets .

The DVD explaining my options at the outset was a great resource and gave us time and space to consider our options and the consultant surgeon urologist was a great communicator and gave real confidence in our consultations .

There must be many people working together behind the scenes and strategic expertise on systems to coordinate my care over the various departments and procedures and it is a great credit to the Trust that it worked so well for me.

MyChart is such a great tool that takes the worry and delay about appointments ,results and letters and knowing that you are up to date in real time.

The other comfort was to know that the specialist nurses could be called when minor issues arose and they would call back and deal with the issue. They even taught me to self catheterise which was certainly new and unwelcome territory !

Many Thanks
