"Incredible care from the maternity team "

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

I am writing this review following the delivery of my baby on October 2nd at St Mary’s. I was initially booked to deliver at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea, however needed to be induced and the only available slot was at St Mary’s.

While I was initially anxious about changing hospitals, I feel compelled to write following the fantastic care I received across triage, antenatal ward, labour ward, recovery ward, and postnatal Ward.

The staff were brilliant across the board. I felt listened to, I was given pain relief as soon as I asked for it, and I was consulted step-by-step with my care plan explained to me and my consent asked for ahead of each procedure. Additionally, my husband was able to remain by my side constantly until I was transferred to the postnatal ward where visiting hours were in place. I was personally concerned about being on my own during labour and post having my baby, but I needn’t have worried. The staff were committed to partners being present and the midwives were only a call button away when I was alone overnight on the postnatal ward.

I came into contact with many of the team across my 3 days and wish I could remember everyone’s names, however would like to share that Emilie and Asha from the midwife team on labour ward were absolutely fantastic. They gave brilliant, individualised care, managed my pain really well, and kept my husband involved. I felt so positive about my labour experience at the time and even more so looking back on it, despite needing an intervention and requiring a blood transfusion following delivery. My recovery has been smooth so far and this is down to how swiftly the team acted.

Please pass on my thanks to the team at St Mary’s. My experience was made due to the incredible people you have working at your hospital
