"Awful"

About: City Walls Medical Centre

I had an inguinal hernia general anaesthetic operation last Monday and the hospital gave me a letter telling me to contact my doctor on the following Friday (yesterday) to have a ‘wound review’ and I was told to get advice about cleanliness and re-dressing, which I did.

I could not get an appointment or speak on the phone with the nurse on Friday; I couldn’t get an appointment to see or speak to a nurse all the following week either.

So I had to manage my own wound review and re apply a new wound dressing myself, in my bedroom!

“Oh What a Wonderful War!”

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on NHS choices, I am sorry that you have had cause to leave a negative response.

We would usually make sure a patient had their wound review by adding additional patients to the Nurses clinics and would like to follow this up to establish why you weren't offered an appointment. It would benefit the practice and allow us to investigate this further and offer additional training to the receptionist if you could contact the practice and ask to speak to the Office or Practice Manager so that we can follow this up.
