"My stay in hospital"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General surgery

(as a service user),

Attended A&E in September, was quite ill at the time, unable to keep even water down, rapid weight loss.  Sent home.  Not happy.  Scan swallow was already previously booked for Wednesday.  I attended, immediately admitted to Theatre direct.  Can not fault the care, help and professional service I received from this point on.  Can't thank the surgeons and professional staff who attended me enough in the next 7 days.

Respect..... to all staff, from the cleaners, caterering, nursing staff right up to the top man.  Thank you 😊

Dear Ella 21,

My name is Jane and I am the Matron for Emergency Care. I am sorry that your experience in the Emergency department was not what you had hoped.

Without reviewing your ED notes, it is very difficult for me to comment specifically on your case and try and explain why you had been sent home despite being ill. From what you say it may have been that the Emergency Department felt that the investigations into your illness were in hand as you had a scan booked on the Wednesday following your ED attendance and that there was nothing further they could do.

If you feel you want me to look into this further for you then please contact the Patient experience Team at RCHT giving them your details.

Kind Regards

Jane
