"When my son's "self-medication" got out of hand"

About: One Recovery Bucks / High Wycombe

(as a service user),

Needing support when my son's "self-medication" got out of hand

My son has schizophrenia and uses legal highs that he buys online to make him feel better and counteract the symptoms of his condition and also side effects of his medication. A few months ago this got out of hand, his behaviour was very challenging. I just didn't know how to handle it anymore. This is when contact was made with One Recovery Bucks.

They gave us information which was excellent and very useful. They gave me weekly phone calls to see how I was doing.

Hi Paloma,

Thanks so much for taking your time to give us your feedback about using our services. Sorry to hear that you son appears to have been struggling with his condition and self medicating. I am so pleased to hear you found us for support and that you have found this useful. It can be so challenging trying to manage on your own as a family unit. I do hope things have turned a corner for your sons recovery and he is getting the support he needs too.

Great to hear you found the weekly calls useful and I hope you have taken away some key skills to help you manage and look after your own wellbeing, remember we are always here if you need us.

Take care and all the very best

Regards

Tracy
