My sister had foot surgery in Sanderson suite and had a great experience , she is 78 years old and very hard of hearing . Post op. recovery was uneventful and she needed a 2 week appointment. The appt. dept. gave her a telephone consultation , i rang to say 1) she couldn't have this because she needed to be seen to have dressing changed, sutures trimmed and splint applying and 2) she can't use the phone because of her hearing , but the staff kept insisting it was a telephone consultation, eventually she gave me the consultants secretary's number , she wasn't available so i rang sanderson suite who confirmed that my sister needed to be seen in person, eventually after the weekend i got in touch with the orthopaedic secretary's who arranged an appt. at fracture clinic , then on the morning of the appt. it was cancelled as it was the wrong clinic. We went to clinic the week after which was a week later than it should have been, clinic staff and medical staff were wonderful and took into account her hearing disability. She was to be followed up in 4 weeks which would be 8th October, by 2nd October she had not received a letter with appt. so yet again i had to ring up and once again it had been missed , the appt. staff then had to ring the consultants secretary who said to put my sister in the clinic on the 8th. Clinically my sister has had wonderful treatment but the appointment dept. is a shambles and needs sorting out . I dread to think what would have happened if my sister had no one to speak for her.
"Great medical staff but appointments dept. a…"
