"I will be forever grateful"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery Pilgrim Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as the patient),

I was in so much abdominal pain I had to ring NHS 111. On telling them how bad I felt I was told to go to A & E at Pilgrim Hospital and be seen by doctors urgently. When I arrived I was seen immediately to have blood taken and an abdomen scan. Eventually the doctor gave me the results saying my appendix had perforated and would need surgery urgently. I was taken to Ward 1B and prepared for surgery, with the Surgeon coming to my bedside to explain the procedure and put me at ease while I was in unbearable pain.

The next day the Doctors told me I had been a very lucky lady and that it was thanks to the Doctor I had seen in A&E. acting so swiftly. I asked for that Doctors name and was told that it was Dr Eftimie (surgical). On my discharge on Saturday 3rd October I gave a Thank-you card to all staff and doctors of Ward 1B and also a personal card to be forwarded on to the doctor.

I will be forever grateful to those wonderful Doctors, Theatre Staff, Ward Nurses and even Cleaning Staff for the care and compassion I received at Pilgrim Hospital.

Thank you for the feedback about your recent experience. Your comments are very kind especially as you clearly were very unwell. It is always good to hear that staff have managed to deliver such good care in what was a very busy time for the hospital. We will make sure that all the the teams see your lovely feedback and we know that the card you sent in will have been so well received. It is always a morale boost when our patients take the time to say thank you.

We hope you are now well on the way to recovery and feel much better.
