I was in so much abdominal pain I had to ring NHS 111. On telling them how bad I felt I was told to go to A & E at Pilgrim Hospital and be seen by doctors urgently. When I arrived I was seen immediately to have blood taken and an abdomen scan. Eventually the doctor gave me the results saying my appendix had perforated and would need surgery urgently. I was taken to Ward 1B and prepared for surgery, with the Surgeon coming to my bedside to explain the procedure and put me at ease while I was in unbearable pain.
The next day the Doctors told me I had been a very lucky lady and that it was thanks to the Doctor I had seen in A&E. acting so swiftly. I asked for that Doctors name and was told that it was Dr Eftimie (surgical). On my discharge on Saturday 3rd October I gave a Thank-you card to all staff and doctors of Ward 1B and also a personal card to be forwarded on to the doctor.
I will be forever grateful to those wonderful Doctors, Theatre Staff, Ward Nurses and even Cleaning Staff for the care and compassion I received at Pilgrim Hospital.
"I will be forever grateful"
