"Terrifying GP Experience"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as a service user),

Attended GP today for an intimate examination.   The GP was not friendly at all.   Unsympathetic, uncaring, no empathy skills at all and very abrupt in manner, tone, body language and communication skills severely lacking.   At no point was I understood, nor was my dignity maintained.   Also very questionable advice given, only checking with independent pharmacist avoided health complications.   Tablets were given which would have severe complications when taken with tablets already on.   I think this GP is a disgrace, and that action needs to be taken before severe consequences are had by any other patient.

Hello Strath,

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am very sorry to hear you have had such a poor experience in accessing care from your GP.

Unfortunately GP practices are independent contractors with a separate complaints and feedback procedure to NHS GGC, and to ensure your feedback reaches the correct people you would need to share your experience directly with the practice manager at your GP Surgery.

If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself there are support services that are able to support you in sharing feedback directly with services, with the Patient Advice and Support Service being one such organisation. They can be reached via https://www.cas.org.uk/pass

Alternatively I can work to send the above feedback onto your GP surgery's practice manager if you could get in touch with me on PatientExperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with the name of the practice, and contact information that you would be happy for the GP surgery to reach you on.

I have also looked out some more detailed NHS information on complaints and feedback that may be use to you that I have shared below.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/health/nhs-healthcare-s/nhs-complaints-s/

I hope this information is helpful in ensuring your issues can be raised with your GP surgery directly.

Kind Regards

Paul
