My teenage son injured his left knee whilst playing football on Sunday. I drove him to to the Queen Elizabeth A&E department for assessment. On arrival it was clear that they had changed the process due to COVID 19, However , the process was straightforward.
My son was seen by a nurse and physio and also had X-rays taken of his knee. They suspect he tore his ACL but would need an orthopaedic specialist to confirm this. The staff gave him a letter explaining that the Consultant would call in a few days. The staff also gave him an exercise sheet with some knee movement exercises he should do to keep the thing moving.
All in all the service was excellent and despite my son being unaccompanied during the whole process (due to Covid) the staff made him very comfortable and fully explained the process and his injury.
