"Pre assessment"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Pre Operative Assessment University Hospital Wishaw / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

The booking team at Wishaw in my opinion  are a disgrace. I was due to come for a scope, but first would require a covid 19 swab. First the team were abrupt uncaring and unprofessional. They provided  quite a lot of information and when I asked for clarity, I felt like  I was spoken down to. Anyway received a letter for the swab and my endoscope. Both appointment letters had incorrect information on them. With no instruction on what to do for the swab or for my endoscope.

Arrived at Hairmyres for my swab the staff treated me with respect and care. The nurse tried to make calls on my behalf in order to gather the relevant information for me. They managed to get a hold of someone at Wishaw for me to speak to. Again in my view, Wishaw were of no help. The swab staff kept looking to help me and eventually got me all the information I needed.

I was shocked that at my appointment I was told I would need to isolate after the swab before coming in for my endoscope. I was not informed about this from the booking team. This is vital information that must be given not wait until the day of the swab to then tell you.

The Hairmyres staff went above and beyond but I personally can't say the same for the staff I was in contact with at Wishaw.

Dear poor info,

I would like to apologise on behave of the team in regards to the uncaring and unprofessional way that you were treated, this is not the patient experience that I would have expected from the team.

Can I ask you to contact Yvonne Ross the UHW patient affairs manager to give her your details so that I can investigate your comments and to let the staff reflect on how you were made to feel.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments

Regards

Pauline
