"appointments and receptionists"

About: Avenue Medical Practice

(as the patient),

The surgery phoned me approx 3 weeks ago regarding blood tests my consultant needed before I spoke to him next week, so I made an appointment. On arriving at the surgery I was told that my appointment was for October and not today. I was made to feel as if I had made the mistake not them. I told the receptionist that it needed to be this week due to the consultant needing the results before my appointment with them. The receptionist gave me an appointment for later today, but this was for the Jordan Thorpe surgery which I refused and said I wanted it for the Avenue practice. They replied "You are refusing to go to Jordan Thorpe surgery". To which I replied " No, I am not refusing but I cannot walk that far and I do not have a car. I prefer to come to the Avenue."  They then made an appointment for me the following day at the Avenue.

I was very upset because I knew it was not my fault, but theirs and to be spoken to by a receptionist like that is not good service for the surgery. I am not compelled to go to another surgery if I do not want to, I was a patient at the Avenue Practice before it merged and always had good service. Since they have merged I feel the service for getting appointments is terrible and the mistakes the receptionists are making regarding them are terrible also. This is not the first time I or my family  have had this problem. The receptionists do not seem to understand the system and think that they never make mistakes.

I think more training is needed on the system. Before the merger the receptionists were very helpful but now I feel that some of them talk to you as if you are a child ,  that they are always right and better than you. I believe that this gives the surgery a bad reputation which was not there before .
