Jo, a Healthcare Support Worker answered my phone call from outside the front door of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. My dad was in the stroke ward 5 hours post stroke and I was waiting outside the hospital for my mum to reach the ward to visit him after travelling for an hour to get there. She’d been with him when he had his stroke, but COVID-19 meant she couldn’t accompany him in the ambulance. She was anxious, upset and frightened. Jo said she would look out for Mum and take her back down to us after visiting him. She was reassuring and friendly and made me feel assured that both mum and dad were in safe hands. I work in the health service so feel comfortable in the environment but with my own relative being the patient I myself felt vulnerable. Thank you Jo.
