"Communication issues and no empathy"

About: Lintonville Medical Group

I was prescribed cholcalciferol by my respiratory consultant due to acute shortness of breath. On re ordering my prescription (which I pay for) the cholcalciferol was not included. I contacted lintonville to be told a pharmacist had discontunued the prescription. After explaining to the receptionist why I was on it she was very understanding and said she would get a dr to call back. By this time it was mid day and I was into the third of my night shifts as a nurse. Eventually the pharmacist that had discontinued my medication called. She stated it was Vallens policy not to supply drugs that are available over the counter. I tried to explain that this was not some sunshine sadness I had but acute respiratory issues hence why my consultant had put it on prescription. All she kept saying was get it over the counter. She does not understand what it is like not to breath. I am now in the predicament of no meds, non at my pharmacy over the counter, night shift worker so not really appropriate to be wandering all over town trying to source an essential medication. There was no communication to say my prescription had been cancelled, no rational to why. I find it incredibly rude and inconsiderate to patients to be doing this to them. As a nurse I always thought provision of information to your patient was essential for optimum care. The way I have been kept in the dark and only found about this because I asked is disgraceful. What about all the patients out there who aren't informed of this and end up not taking essential medication because it is not in their pharmacy bag? This major collapse in communication from your pharmacist needs addressing. Should I have to be re-admitted to hospital again because of a decline in my respiratory condition I shall be pursuing this further as the respiratory team have worked hard to get me back to some semblance of normality.
