I came in 17 Sept 2020 for a spinal decompression. The whole experience was extremely professional, caring and very mindful of my needs. The Consultant, as always made everything very clear both before and after my surgery, about the details of the operation and what he achieved (amazing results already only 3 days afterwards) the pre assessment was extremely thorough, then the follow up contact regarding preparation and advice was excellent too. The anaesthetist was also vey thorough both by telephone before my admission, then pre surgery too, everything was very calm pre op.

I cannot remember all the names of everyone who looked after me, but the nurse the first day was brilliant, very caring and thorough, making sure that I was really comfortable and putting me completely at ease. The night nurse who looked after me through the night (often the hardest time after surgery) was fantastic too, she was extremely kind, very respectful regarding my required treatment and also took time to talk to me when I was finding it hard to sleep. The nurse the next day was very jolly and professional, ensuring that I was discharged without unnecessary delays. So all the nurses that looked after me kept me pain free and very comfortable throughout my stay, for which I am extremely grateful. In the past 3 previous back surgeries, this has sadly not always been the case.

The physio gave me very clear and straightforward guidance which is much appreciated and the catering ladies were also really pleasant, withngood food too. Everyone that I had contact with were superb and I really do hope that other patients appreciate how dedicated people in the medical profession are and how hard they work. They have worked wonders through this pandemic and people should be so grateful.

When I was looking online for contact details to write this review, I also saw things that are very disturbing....solicitors touting for negligence work and a complaints proceedure for Spire Hospitals. Shame on anyone who complians at this challenging time, it is appalling. All of us should be so grateful for these dedicated and committed people that do so much to help us. But then some people are just negative and love to find fault if they can.

So from me it is a huge and respectful thank you to you all that looked after me so well, I was an NHS patient and have been very fortunate to have had such great care.
