My 99year old aunt had a fall in her kitchen and was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital after a long wait for an ambulance. She was operated on and made an excellent recovery, the physios were willing to let her home but the care package had to be confirmed so we were told she would be discharged in the afternoon.
It's now 9pm and she is still not home having been up and dressed ready for discharge since early this morning.. How can this be justified. All the good that a successful hip repair may have done will be be totally negated by the trauma of this botched discharge. I feel totally impotent in this situation, I can't transport her home myself although I would dearly love to.
