"Highly Disappointed - Maternity Unit "

About: North Middlesex Hospital

1) was told my appointment was in Tottenham stadium - with the letter to prove it .. Turn up there & it’s not actually there it’s in the Maternity department.

2) I did not have a chaperone in the room with me, just me and a man for my scan. (Surely that’s not correct protocol)

3) Felt so uncomfortable & not welcomed by the Sonographer at all.

4) Was not explained or even spoken to about my baby & how she was getting on.

5) RUSHED

6) Didn’t even hear her heartbeat.

7) Worst pictures of the baby (considering my partner isn’t allowed to see the scans & good picture would be nice) & a picture showing it’s a girl was not needed.

8) Told to come back for another scan (which is fine) but at least explain why properly.

Overall I left there crying down the phone to my partner, could not tell you if my baby is growing okay and is healthy.. I wasn’t reassured at all. Considering I’m watching this scan and I don’t know what I’m looking at the man wasn’t explaining or helping.

I am so disappointed & upset. I am now going to pay to have a private scan to be more reassured.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some valuable feedback on your recent experience in our maternity Department. We are sorry to understand that the experience on your previous antenatal scan appointment wasn’t one you expected. As a trust and department we aim to provide outstanding care to our patients. The Ultrasound manager would like to discuss this with you to explore more on what would have gone wrong and to ensure it does not happen in future. If you can get back to him on 020 8887 2539.He is looking forward to addressing your concerns and ensuring you have an outstanding experience for the remaining course of your care in the department.

Kind regards

Rogers Kalende
