I could not have been more impressed with the organisation and efficiency of this service in the midst of a pandemic.I have been working from home and only go out to the supermarket occasionally. One day I went out and suffered a fall. I truly felt like I had forgotten how to be out and about, it was such a shock. Two weeks later I noticed the bruise had some patching and discovered a lump. I had no clue as to whether this was there before or as a result of the fall. I visited my fantastic GP surgery and was referred. The Walsall Manor Hospital has a great approach to managing appointments which I have experienced before when my daughter had needed surgery; agree with the patient the appointment up front.
Of course I was worried about attending a hospital appointment during a pandemic when numbers are rising. I could not have been more relaxed on the day.I had to have a mammogram, ultrasound and then fine needle aspiration. The practitioners were reassuring throughout and I felt safe. The service was just so professional, efficient and still incredibly thorough.I had been advised I may need to be there for up to four hours, but I was called at my exact appointment time and was there for less than an hour and a half, start to finish. It is impossible to thank all of the staff involved enough for making a stressful situation so incredibly relaxing and reassuring, all things considered. I am grateful to have such a wonderful and effective NHS service in Walsall.
