"An emergency appendectomy"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was taken ill very suddenly late one Friday night while on holiday in Cornwall.

I rushed her to The Royal Cornwall, where from the minute we arrived, to be greeted at 3am by a kind and friendly doorman, EVERYONE was kind, helpful, efficient and supportive, both to me and my daughter.

This was particularly significant since due to Covid restrictions, once she had been admitted, I was not allowed to go with her, and she had to deal with all of it alone, which, although she is an adult, was very daunting for her.

Dear Mumma,

My name is Jane and I am the Clinical Matron for Emergency Care.

Thankyou for your kind comments regarding your daughters journey through the Trust. As you say, these are difficult times and many patients feel particularly anxious about coming into hospital no matter how old they are. It is good to know that both you and your daughter were made to feel to welcome and reassured by the whole experience.

I am sorry to hear that your daughter had to undergo an emergency operation but hope that she is well on the way to recovery.

Thank you once again for your positive comments

Kind Regards

Jane
