"They welcomed me with open arms"

About: Mid Argyll Community Hospital and Integrated Care / Maternity/Midwifery

(as the patient),

I just wanted to sing the praises of the entire Mid Argyll maternity care team. After two miscarriages and my third and final round of IVF i found out i was pregnant. I had given up my flat in London and had come to spend the summer in Inveraray (to either rest and recuperate if it ended in miscarriage again or sit out my pregnancy at our place in Inveraray.) A few days after we had arrived here, lockdown occurred. Whilst some in the community didn't want to see 'tourists' and even the local GP surgery receptionist didn't want to take me on saying they had their own patients to deal with, the Mid Argyll midwife team just welcomed me with open arms. They made me feel welcome and like I wasn't going to be treated as an outsider just because I was here during lockdown. I wouldn't have come up had we known lockdown was going to happen especially as I didn't want to be any burden on local services but having given up my flat I had no other choice.

They not only registered me with them and insist that the local GP surgery take me as a patient but they took great care to book me in for everything a local would have had. They are a wonderful, warm, smiling team (yes all of them) and take great care in explaining everything and answering all the questions I had. I have no doubt that dealing with hormonal pregnant women during normal times is pretty stressful and during covid lockdown is incredibly tough but I absolutely love this team and what they did for me and wont forget it. Thank you x
