"Ward 4 staff"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Acute Medical Receiving Unit University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department University Hospital Monklands / Mental Health

(as the patient),

I was taken to A&E a few weeks back due to taking an overdose, ran away from the hospital the next day and tried again. I was then detained under the mental health act. I was then in AMRU, then transferred to ward 4.

The ward 4 staff were brilliant, one nurse in particular Natalie, was really caring and just really nice in general. I was in ward 4 for 3 nights, I struggle to sleep so I was up all night one night and the nurses didn’t mind me being up speaking to them, the night shift staff were great. The day shift staff were just as good, everyday I was hoping to get home but I had bladder retention so I was trying to fib to the nurses that I had gone to the toilet so I would get home but they explained how dangerous it would be if my bladder ruptured. They didn’t believe that I had went and joked about it. I couldn’t of asked for better nurses and the doctor that was looking after me while I was in their care.   The nurses were really understanding and caring and passionate about the care they gave. Just a special shout out to Natalie and the nightshift team that had to put up with me when I couldn’t sleep, ( I can be rather annoying) but they were just amazing. Thank you! I’m wondering if I can send in a gift, like a sweet hamper or something? Just to say thank you to all of them? Please let me know, thanks!

Dear Lou1996

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback in relation to your inpatient stay in Ward 4. It will be my pleasure to share your comments with the staff you mentioned, especially Natalie and the staff during night shift. I am delighted that the staff were able to make you feel supported and treated you with care and compassion.

I note your comments around sending in a gift for the staff, which is a lovely gesture, however I know that the comments you have shared will be enough gratitude for the staff.

May I take this opportunity to send you my best wishes for the future.

Kind regards.

Morag
