Whilst on holiday in Cornwall I had a 'period' after 3 years of no periods, I assumed I was post menopausal and this was a shock. I telephoned my doctors surgery and a locum doctor immediately referred me to gynaecology. After a worried 10 days away I attended an appointment at Lincoln County Hospital on a Tuesday in mid August late afternoon for an ultrasound scan, the receptionist was fairly stressed as the computer system had 'gone down'. That being the case I feel that their handling of patients was a little sharp and not altogether sympathetic given the reasons most patients were attending for a scan.
The nurse, Hannah I think, and the ultrasound operator, Spencer, could not have been more lovely. Extremely reassuring and professional, I felt very cared for and in safe hands. Fortunately the scan was clear and Spencer was able to reassure a very teary old woman that all was well. Hannah was an absolute star, thank you.
Following this I attended a follow up appointment with Dr Flood in gynaecology a week or so later . From start to finish this appointment was first class. I was called on time by Dr Flood's nurse, I think Marie, who was friendly and reassuring and just lovely. Dr Flood was friendly, chatty and so reassuring and helpful, he asked a few questions and was happy to listen and answer any questions I had. I felt safe and valued throughout the appointment, even though I had an internal examination. At no point did I feel like a number or rushed in any way. A thoroughly professional and reassuring experience throughout.
Thank you so much to all the staff that dealt with me through this journey.
