"Hygiene and meal organisation"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Padua ward

Baby aged 18 months in a cubicle due to infection.

Hospitalised for 5 days

Floor was cleaned once.

Breakfast and lunch tray with dirty food were still there at 6 in the evening.

Other concern is meal times.

We were not told how meal times were organised and no one came to "take an order" so on 2 occasions our child just didn't get any meals !!! We had a few biscuits and snacks. But surely proper food is crucial to his recovery. When asking the staff at 7 30 PM when he would get a meal. We were told that he was asleep in the morning when the food orders were taken. So does that mean he can't eat that day then ? A kind staff offer to get him a Weetabix , a tangerine and some crisps. Very grateful for the offer but no substitute for a hot meal. When we left we were told there was a parents kitchen with a fridge and microwave !
