"The staff are all so kind"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Inverclyde Royal Hospital / General Medicine ( wards G North, G South, J North, J South & L South) Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Xrays and Scans

(as the patient),

For years I felt tired and really not myself, so I went to my gp who ran all the tests, where they found that there was blood in my stool. So the I was sent for a colonoscopy which couldn’t be completely as it was too painful, so then I was sent for a scan. When I was called back to the hospital to get my results I already had a bad feeling. So the surgeon I saw first was very nice and explained that it was bad but it was benign, so I felt very lucky but I would need an operation to get it out. They didn’t think they could get it out via keyhole but then spoke to Mr Hannah about me and he looked at my tumour and said that he could do it with keyhole which was so much better and quicker recovery.

I couldn’t fault any of the staff at Inverclyde Royal, they are all so kind, and Mr Hannah is my hero. I can never thank him enough.

It’s only been a week since my op and I’m already doing so well with hardly any pain.

I owe the nurses on H south and Mr Hannay everything. Thank you with all my heart.

Dear Pinkjen28,

Firstly thank you so much for getting in touch and sharing your experience of H South and the staff who cared for you.

It must have been a very worrying time for you, and I'm delighted to hear that your surgery went well, in the very capable hands of Mr Hannay, also known as your hero. He will be very happy when I tell him that this afternoon. I'll also pass on your praise to the ward staff who looked after you.

I'm glad to hear that you are recovering well and wish you all the best.

Thank you again

Heather
