I've been a patient of Sunnymeed Surgery since 2005. Initially I visited for rather "minor" complaints i.e. chronic asthma, the menopause until 2008 when I had blood coming out of my ear! One doctor investigated and gave 2 courses of antibiotic that failed. I was then referred to another doctor who called me and asked that I attend his surgery on the same day which I did. On looking at my right ear he said "I'm going to be honest with you I do not what you have in your ear but I do not like it." I was immediately referred to a Consultant, ENT at St Peter's hospital. He was also concerned. I then had a biopsy and, very quickly I was diagnosed with 1 in a million form of cancer - squamous cell carcinoma in the right ear canal. I had a 9 hr operation performed by a surgeon at The Charing Cross hospital. I was very lucky the cancer was still in its early stage and it did not spread via the lymph nodes. If it had not been for the sheer diligence at Sunnymeed Surgery this cancer could have gone unoticed until it was too late. I'm forever grateful to the two doctors who literally saved my life and, of course, the skill and dedication of the surgeon, aka the best ENT surgeon in the world. Thank you for the extra lease of life. Ten years on I can live to tell the tale. With best wishes, Therese
