"Admission to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as an emergency by my GP.   Due to current Covid & first time being admitted to ARI was apprehensive.   I was seen by SAC clinic in Ward 208 & was admitted to the ward for further tests.   I was kept informed at every stage through Ultrasound, MRI & blood testing.   These showed I required an ERCP to unblock my bile duct.   I was transferred to ward 207 to await this.   Even although I thought I may only be in for one night I ended up having an 8 day stay.   All staff from porters, cleaners, catering, health care assistants & nursing staff were second to none & did a 5* job.   The nurses were never off their feet & were kind & caring.   Angel's in uniform.   The food was excellent too, I felt bad wasting food in the first few days as I just couldn't face it but when my appetite returned I thoroughly enjoyed it with plenty choice of healthy food offered. I will have to return in the future for an operation but this time I won't be so apprehensive as I know the hospital provides a first class service in all areas.

Dear 8855

Thank you so much for your kind comments. It's understandable that you would be apprehensive about coming into hospital but delighted to hear that all members of staff did a 5* job! Our staff work very hard and they will be delighted with your feedback.

I will ensure that your comments are shared with the other departments mentioned and it's good to hear you enjoyed the food.

I hope you are recovering and feeling better.

Kind regards

Linda

Dear 8855,

The Catering Manager, Ruaraidh Mackinnon has asked me to share his thanks and let you know your kind comments regarding the food will be shared with the catering staff in the ARI Kitchen - it's always lovely to know the choices they offer are being enjoyed!

Hope everything goes well with your next hospital visit.

Take care,

Kirsten
