I recently had my scheduled prostrate biopsy appointment in Pilgrim hospital Boston, Lincolnshire as a day patient. I arrived wearing face mask on a ward where there was a very reassuring notice that it is a Covid 19 free ward. I was declared free of Covid a day before. The reception staff, ward staffs, staff nurse Sharon, student nurse and nurse consultant Gina were so welcoming and reassuring that I forgot about the seriousness of my procedure and became very relaxed. Tea and biscuits were offered, necessary observations taken and reassurance given .Gina, explained to me the procedure, obtained my consent, and even said that if apprehensive she van organise the process to be done under GA, but bravely and wisely I choose to continue with Local Anaesthesia. Gina and her colleagues kept on talking to me, constantly checking me with about my pain and discomfort, with their help i could tolerate what i imagined a very painful process rather easily. Their professionalism and friendly attitude will always stay with me.
Post procedure, they organised my take home prescription, reassured me again about any potential complication.
I really think that the service and treatment i received was as world class and compassionate and caring As any where in the world if not better.
"Professionalism and friendly attitude"
