Since a TIA in 2016, I have experienced migraines which cause me to lose control of all motor function. At their worst, these occur on average three times per week. This has led to lengthy periods of absence from work and have had a devastating effect on my personal life. They have led to my being admitted via emergency ambulance on four occassions.
I was formerly being. treated by the neurosurgery team at the QEUH. Unfortunately, they were unable to bring my migraines under control.
In February of this year, I was fortunate enough to be transferred to the neurology team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital under Dr Begley. With the support of my GP (at Balfron Medical Centre, who has been superb), Dr Begley has managed to get me. on to a new, unlicensed medication which has literally changed my life. The migraines have been much more readily controlled, and Dr Begley's care and communication have been absolutely superb. I only have to email with a query and he responds in a timely and helpful manner. The care I have received, both from my GP and Dr Begley, has been an absolute credit to the NHS.
